A couple of days ago, this was the Google doodle of the day. When I saw it, I thought it would be fitting to share with all of you today. So many around the country will be playing out similar scenes over the next few days, weeks and months and yet so many others will not be able to hug their moms, dads, sisters, brothers, cousins, and friends again. Today, as we celebrate the unofficial start to summer with barbecues and laughter, let’s take a moment out of our day to remember those who have sacrificed life and limb so that we can have the freedom to do so.
Just to give you the back story on this illustration…18-year old, Sabrina Brady, a high school senior from Wisconsin, recently entered an won the 2013 “Doodle 4 Google” contest with her drawing of her “best day ever.” The actual event took place when she was 10 years old and her father returned fromm his 18-month deployment in Iraq.
